Asus ISA-486SV2 v3.1
Motherboard RH-YBYCIn 1993 ASUS built around the SiS 85C461, a cheap and mature chipset with no pretensions to speed. PCs were commoditising hard and this was the low-cost route: VLB video on shared ISA slots, and eight 30-pin SIMM sockets at a point when 30-pin was on the way out and prices had collapsed. Builders could reuse memory pulled from 386 machines. Clone shops and small OEMs bought these by the tray.
