The Panatek Mono/Parallel card reflects the dominance of the Hercules standard in business computing during the mid-1980s. Although equipped with just 64 KB of RAM, it provided the sharp 720 × 348 monochrome graphics that made spreadsheets, CAD and desktop publishing far more practical than IBM’s original MDA. By combining a Hercules-compatible display adapter with a parallel printer port, it also conserved one of the IBM PC’s limited expansion slots.
