RH-MTP9The Amstrad PC1640 built on the success of the PC1512, offering a faster 8 MHz 8086 processor, improved graphics and greater expansion. Despite outperforming IBM’s original PC and XT in many tasks, it sold for considerably less, making MS-DOS computing far more accessible to homes and businesses. Bundled software, a high-quality monitor and strong UK distribution helped make it one of Europe’s most successful IBM-compatible PCs of the late 1980s.
